Such a rad weekend

 Absolutely classic summer JH weekend went down last weekend.  Dash got his first float under his belt.

One Big Date

 was had pretty much the entirety of last weekend.  Drive in movie at the "Spud" over in Idaho.

The Big SLC

Last week we drove down to Salt Lake City to pick up my dad from the airport, but not before Trev surprised me with a date night to see Bela Fleck and Bruce Hornsby at the Red Butte Gardens in SLC!

What is a date night without your special little brother? Since Marco is living and training in Park City right now, he tagged along with to the show. Great night with my two favorite guys!

SUMMER!!!!

is finally here! It was a long time coming (and you guys in Tahoe know how this feels), but man it is good to see the sun! Finally, on the longest day of the year, it is starting to feel like summer has arrived, so what better time to do our little back patio flower planting date?

Baseball is back

Well, looks like Trev has been converted! The other night for date night he set up a ballpark theme night for the Giants season opener game against the Dodgers...

The Giants played horribly and lost, but we still had fun!

Even some ballpark food to complete the atmosphere, yum! Looking forward to another long and hopefully awesome baseball season from the Giants again this year!

I love living in Jackson Hole. We are so lucky to be in a place full of beauty and culture.


Last night the library hosted a free author talk by none other than Azar Nafisi who wrote Reading Lolita in Tehran, a book that has spent over 117 weeks on the New York Times Bestseller List. It was at the Center for the Arts and she opened to a packed house. And no wonder, she was such an eloquent and passionate speaker, that I felt like I could have sat and listened to her for hours.

She spoke on the power of books transporting you to different worlds and into others shoes and without them we really wouldn't have a full understanding of the beauty that lies in other cultures we don't fully understand.

A powerful statement she made was about not judging a country or a culture by their evil-doers because every country has some history they are ashamed of, just think of the KKK or the Confederates, the United States does not want to be categorized by this hate, just like the Iranian and Iraqi people don't want to be judged by their extremists. Put yourself in others shoes and don't just accept injustice as "part of their culture" because injustice is always wrong. She made me want to stand up and do something about curbing the hate and violence that is so easy to put out of your mind when it is not in front of your face every day. So maybe I will.

She was amazing and inspiring and she made me feel lucky to have been there. Her new work Things I've Been Silent About is next on my list of must reads. Support your library, support your local book store and take a stand.

Okay, for everyone (maybe just me) who needs a little break from boys and fishing, here are some pics from the date night Trev did for me last night. For those of you not familiar, Trev and I try to plan some surprise for the other and do "dates" every once in awhile, we do them with no particular regularity, but are thinking maybe we should step it up, especially in the summer when there are so many great ideas and fun things to do!

Last night Trev surprised me with loads of flowers and we finally planted some boxes and hangers for our large "patio", is that even what you call our cement block out back? I don't know.

Egg decorating/ Date night

Chels treated me to another installment of "date-night" tonight with dinner, and then Easter Egg decorating. We finished the night off with a movie at home on the couch with Stevie called, "7 pounds." Awesome movie, be sure to move it directly to the top of your Netflix ques!

The Easter Egg decorating of course turned into a very friendly game of one ups-menship with Chels easily crushing me on the creativity factor.
