We did it!

Early on in the winter we had set out to get Dash up to Granite Hot Springs as a goal by the end of the winter.  WHen we first tried in early December, the days were short, it was always below zero, and he was a couple months younger.  Sunday our bud Virg had her bday party up there and in good ol Wyoming fashion, all her buds, their old and new sleds, dogs, elk and bison meat, and cold beers all made the trip up to the hot springs.  Ohh yea, and Dash included!!  It was an unusually warm day and was in the 30's which this time of year feels like the 60's.

We loaded up the lil guy and set off.  Chels may or may not have pulled multiple back muscles sitting in one position with Dash for the 10 mile journey both ways, but I'll be damned, the crew made the 20 mile roundtrip trek aok.  I kept the sled at a very even rpm and the hum of the engine got him asleep both directions!

It had been a few years since we soaked in the pool hot springs instead of the natural one further down river.  We had almost forgotten what a magical place it is!

To get here one must sled, skate ski, fat bike, and or dog sled!

Starting to get the goodies all warmed up.

Frigid

Hello world, we love seeing start with such amazing beauty.  There is starting to actually be some light on the summit now that the days are getting longer.

This weeks installment of the dawn patrol was colder than its usual frigid self.  Must have been the wind chill.  Freshies above the clouds.

Always worth the early alarm wake up, cold, and hike.

Ready to rock

Lunch hours with the Dashman are easily some of my favorite moments of my work week.  This week Dash added goggles to the mix.  We of course dont have any that actually fit him, but, he didnt seem to mind the large ones.  Pretty stoke to be seeing this awesome dude putting skis on next winter.

Put on repeat yes please and thank you...

Last weekends sledding missions were nothing short of completely, entirely, and awesomely badass!  Perfect snow, temps, visibility, etc.  The type of days one waits all year for.  Some of the crew, taking a breather on top of Palmer Creek down near Hoback Jct.

 It was that good.

Nothing but emptiness and good times.

I couldnt see much on this turn.

The blue dragon was running like a champ, climbing like a bat outta hell.

Work wandering

Traveling five miles short of Nebraska every month give me a lot of time to think, to listen to random stuff on the radio, and......, to make pit stops for lunch to ski.  On top of Two Ocean Peak last week en route to Torrington.  Haven't been up on top of this peak in  a few years.  Always love being up there.

And the commute back to the car wasn't so bad either.

Back to winter

No sooner did we get back from Hawaii, it started snowing, and snowing, and snowing.  And, we skied, and it was awesome!  Dawn Patrol with the crew.
