Another tough day in the Hole

Took full advantage of one of the few sunny days of the spring so far and went biking in Grand Teton National Park. For the month of April, the park road is plowed and open only for pedestrian traffic, so it is packed with bikers, walkers, runners, snow-shoers, cross-country skiers, you name it. Had a great day with Rob and Linda, biking and picnicking in the Jenny Lake parking lot with 4 foot snowbanks surrounding us. We are pretty lucky to have this beauty only a 10 minute drive away, can't think of anywhere else I would rather be!

Fishing in snow?

So you have got to love the off season in a ski town. It is dead. That means lots of local specials! We took full advantage and I surprised Trevor with a night up at this resort with some of the best views of the valley the night before his birthday. I must have sounded nice on the phone because we got the room the closest to the edge of the overlook with the best view...check it out below! Included was a dinner and a breakfast, it felt like we were on vacation, that was until we had to go back to work the next morning!

The view from our deck...very similar to what we see out the back door of our apartment. : )

Our room at Spring Creek, bottom left.

Trevor's parents came into town yesterday to ring in his birthday with us and are here for the weekend. That means taking full advantage of more local specials on good old Rob Robinson's bill. Thanks Rob!

Trevor, Rob and Johnny Ripley went fishing today with hopes that doing a summer activity would bring summer weather, to no avail. Snowed for the whole float on the Snake River and was really cold, but caught a host of fish and had a great time anyway.
This little minnow is covering up my huge smile!

Johnny stoked on his new boat, a fish that was bigger than Trevor's and his new mustache.

Gearing up for Spring....

Spending this week doing the obligatory move from winter to summer mode. The weather is still struggling to get above 32 degrees for highs and it's been snowing off and on. Figured getting the bike and fishing gear out would put me in the mood even if the weather isn't willing to cooperate. Also planning for the Smith River trip in June.

Gotta love Snow King

All the ski areas are closed, but that doesn't stop anyone from still skiing around here. There were a million people skinning and hiking up the local town hill, Snow King today.

At the top of Snow King, with the Tetons in the background, with our friend Katie and her cute, ferocious dog, Gus.

A little bit of Trev ripping it up.

Thursday on Togwotee Pass

Some shots from couloir skiing with my buddy Jeff via snowmobile access. Mashed potato conditions, but fun turns nonetheless.
Chockstone dogleg
Jeff booting up.
Heading back to the trailhead, fully worked.

We have entered the blogosphere!

I know this may look like we really think we are cool (well maybe Trevor does) with a blog about what we do, but we just wanted an easier way for everyone to share in our experiences! We plan to update as often as we can with photos, stories and tidbits from the sweet lives we lead with our cat, Stevie. Enjoy!
