Blast from the past....

My bud "Porc" sent me the other day.  He came across it going through some old photos.  Absolute classic of us from probably the late 80's up the Cd'A River somewhere.  So awesome.

At a loss....

The world lost one of its biggest characters and I lost one of my absolute best friends last week suddenly.  Susan, I miss you so much it hurts.  Things just aren't the same without you.  I am so sad right now, but also so happy for the knowing of you.  I love you my friend.

Bags are packed, passports are in hand......

And we are getting on a big ol jetplane tomorrow heading to the Alps!  Third time over to watch Marco race, ski, and soak in the best ski culture on the planet.  Words can't even begin to describe how pumped we are.  We are doing a very similar trip to what we did in 2009, so, I unearthed some old photos from the blog to get pumped on.  Wengen, Switzerland this weekend, then, a new stop, St Anton (literally the cradle of skiing) Austria for a few days, then to Kitzbuhel, Austria, then on to Schladming.  All the classics on the World Cup circuit.  Wow.

Me, looking down the "Strief" in Kitzbuhel.  Full disclosure, I wussed out and walked down.  It is so scary I cant even begin to describe to you how badass World Cup'er are!  I am going to get my redemption this year!

One of god knows how many lifts in the Kitzbuhel network.

Our crew from 2009 minus Paul who must have been taking the photo?  We are rolling 10 deep this year with a who's who of awesome friends of ours.  So pumped.

Classic Euro ski scene with some hot ski chic I found along the way.

Wengen, I have been wanting to come back for years!

50,000 people celebrating ski racing, cheese, and booze.  Really amazing!

The upper stretches of the Lauberhorn DH course in Wengen with the Eiger in the background.

 The start in Wengen.

Trying to not fall of the Eiger.

Tune in to Universal Sports to watch the action the next couple of weekends, look for us on TV!  GO MARCO......

5 years already?

Randomly came across this picture of Chels and Me in Guatemala on our honeymoon close to 5 years ago tonight.  It made me smile!

Time to Apply

It is that time of year again...... yep, time to start thinking about summer, shirts off, fish rising, and river trips.... This year the crew is talking about doing a trip to the Grand Ronde in Oregon in June and of course, the obligatory trip to the Smith River in Montana in July.

Rolfe, Nate, and Teddy on the Party Barge without a care in the world. Smith, summer 2010.

Applying is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to organizing for an extended day river trip.

Smith River posse 2010. Hopefully all the rest of these foo's come back for the Grand Ronde 2011 and a bunch more sign on too.

Paradise...... Really stoked to get all my river buds together once again not once, but twice this upcoming summer.

Time to Start Thinking Sledding

It is hard to believe, but it's that time of year when the snow community is already thinking about winter. The first edition of Powder has found it's place on top of the white throne, and yes, the latest installment of "Slednecks" is in the DVD player. Slednecks 13 is a good one and got me fired up for the winter, but it's not as good as Slednecks 12. I guess I am ready for winter, didn't summer just start?????

Scope this video from last April of a deep pow day on the sled.

Thoughts of the Stache?

Thinking about growing the stache again for this winter, any thoughts?

Perhaps my awesome wife will be more receptive this winter to the ultimate accessory for men?

Meltdown...

Went from -26 to a high yesterday of 52! This of course had me thinking more about river trips than skiing. Starting to be that time of year again to scheme on river fun and get permits in the mail. Was going through some shots from last summers many missions and found these.

Happy B day Katharine and Pow Skiing

Big shout out to Katharine Lange (also known as Kat Breath, Longe No Beer, or just Breath) who turns a very young, energetic, and awesome 31 today. Kat Breath, please come and visit us again soon so we can replenish our great supply of funny picures of you in JH! Yahoo.

Snowy headstand gone wrong outside the Cowboy Bar

Katharine modeling her six-pack on a float down the Snake River

Shredding it up on Trev's sled

No idea if she has a license for those guns, but she is sporting them anyway!

Also a shot of Brian Hager and his dog Otis this morning up on Teton Pass. We went on a "dawn patrol" ski mission before work at 9 am. It was the first real powder runs of the season, it felt right!

Still Hoping

Starting to get very antsy with the ski legs talking to us! Normally turns can be had by middle of November, but unless you want to risk hitting stumps and rocks, there isn't much skiing to be had here in Jackson. Winter Storm Warning is on for tonight though.

Some shots from our trip to Las Lenas, Argentina a couple of summers ago. Come back snow, we welcome your kind back to our neighborhoods with open arms.

Chels could moonlight as a semi professional photographer in her spare time I think.

Happy B day shout out to Meg Ganong. About time you joined the legions of the 29th year club!

Snow Check

Went out to the ski hill today after work for a little hike and to assess how much this past storm had deposited on the higher elevations. There was about a foot up high with a mixture of man made and natural. Was interesting to see the snow maker workers using 4 wheelers to get around at the bottom of the hike and then by the top they were all on snowmobiles. Good to be in the snow once again. Turns are just around the corner.

Some shots I found in the vault from a classic ski day with the crew last April. The couliour shots are from "Central" off of Cody Peak and "Horseshoe" near Granite Canyon. Double click the Central shot(first one) to get a better perspective.

Have great weekends, think snow!!

Already thinking about Spring??

No, not thinking about Spring, but just saw a few shots from our trip to Escalante last April and already excited to go down there again this year and explore around.
