Super Sunday

Today was basically one of the sweetest days ever. It was a day that we seem to be lucky enough to do regularly here in the Hole in the winter time, but given that it had been about 9 months since the last one of these epics, it was all the more fantastic.

Spent the morning snowmobiling up to Granite Hot Springs. A 10-mile journey next to a partially-frozen river where we spotted a couple coyotes and a wolf on the snowmobile up to the top. Not a ton of snow, but enough to get back to the hot springs and also a bit up near the end of the road to play around on. Always great to take a soak in the hot springs in the middle of a raging blizzard and below zero temps.

Then drove back to the ski hill after dropping off the sled in town and went for a few runs at the Village to round out a perfect day. "Walk On" trams and no lines for powder turns in the afternoon.

Made it all complete with a Swedish dinner at our friends Dan and Ashleigh Walkers house to put a cherry on top of one hell of a great Wyoming Weekend!

We have arrived, Granite Hot Springs here we come!

Soaking in the midst of a blizzard...this is the life

Bundled up again after the soak and warmer than when we arrived

Mmmm...that's nice

Sweet Saturday

We did it. Woke up at 4 am to watch Marco race in Val Gardena and boy was it worth it. He was part of a historic day for the US Mens Team...5 US guys in the top 10!! And Marco got 4th!!! Not a bad weekend for him at all! Nice work Marco!

Article on today's race, right here.

Two of Marco's biggest fans watching the races live at 4am,
Saturday morning. We must be crazy.

On another historic note, we were able to get a little piece of history too...the new tram opened today at Jackson Hole and we took a couple smooth rides to the top with AC/DC blaring and lots of hoots and hollers. They have been working on getting it up for 2 years and sunk over $31 million into the massive project. This new tram is much bigger and faster than the old one, similar to the box that Squaw has now. It was a fun, super super cold day, with temps close to -30 degrees with wind chill. It was one of those days where you had to keep a watch on your friends faces for white cheeks, ears and noses which were a frequent occurrence.

And there it is...the new tram, so exciting!!

Still smiling

Trev trying to demonstrate a face shot to Ted and I, instead went head over heels for a face plant...brrr!

Go Marco!

Photo from this article on the U.S. Ski Team website.

My brother, Marco got 5th in the Super G race today in Val Gardena, Italy, tying his best ever Super G result from the Lake Louise World Cup a month ago. He races the downhill tomorrow...wish him good luck!!!!

If you are super motivated (which we might be crazy enough to do) they will be showing the live video feed from Italy at 6:05 AM EASTERN TIME right here! If the video doesn't work for you, there is always the trusty, but not as exciting live timing right here.

You know what that means? We are going to be up at 4 AM on a Saturday morning...yikes. We might be crazy.

GO MARCO!!

Happy B day Katharine and Pow Skiing

Big shout out to Katharine Lange (also known as Kat Breath, Longe No Beer, or just Breath) who turns a very young, energetic, and awesome 31 today. Kat Breath, please come and visit us again soon so we can replenish our great supply of funny picures of you in JH! Yahoo.

No idea if she has a license for those guns, but she is sporting them anyway!

Also a shot of Brian Hager and his dog Otis this morning up on Teton Pass. We went on a "dawn patrol" ski mission before work at 9 am. It was the first real powder runs of the season, it felt right!

Getting in the Christmas spirit

So it is finally snowing, it is freezing cold and the Christmas tree is up...yay for winter! Love the holidays and love that it finally feels like it should be holiday time!

Date night again last night, so I proposed we decorate the tree and make gingerbread houses. Trevor wasn't so sure about the idea at first, but it ended up being really fun. We popped in a movie and got to work and neither of us were quite sure what we would end up with, I mean who has actually made a gingerbread house since 3rd grade?? The end results were awesome, mine looked like some sort of happy church and Trev's was kind of like a 60's meth-house in Hawaii (his description). Loved it!

Hope everyone is enjoying the holidays as much as Stevie!

Look at that beauty, the branches are barely strong enough to hold ornaments!

Tree Hunting

Some snow has finally arrived here in Jackson. Chels and I went to get our tree Saturday. Getting one to work in our small apartment is defenitely a chore! After a 45 minute walk in the woods, we found and cut down a nice one, however it's base is so small it does not fit into the tree stand. So, now it is wedged in there with a Corona bottle.

Happy Holidays and be on the look out for decorated tree shots to come later this week. I know everyone will be on the edge of their seats awaiting!

What a weekend...

We had an amazing last four days in Beaver Creek, one of those trips that you can't stop telling stories about or wipe the grin off your face for days. I want to thank everyone who came for making the whole event so amazingly fun and memorable, especially Marco! We got to watch Marco race in the downhill (which he didn't finish) and the Super G (which he placed 22nd), we got interviewed numerous time because we had the biggest, best and loudest fan club around, we got to ski with our ripper friends, we ate AMAZING food and they even threw an early surprise 30th birthday party for me where everyone dressed up and wore wigs...the Beaverfest this year was so so so great, something we will never ever forget!

Party favors for all 40 of the Beaverfest crew

We had teams of 3-4 people make the meals and had a contest for the tastiest...it was tough competition!
