Just unreal...

Not a lot better than getting out at first light for a rip.  A couple of cold mornings ago the sledding was as deep as it has been this entire winter, as evidenced by this submarine turn (look for the ski!).

That was the view from my perspective the entire morn.

Jesse landing on as soft of a pillow as one could ever hope to find.

A December to remember!

This past month we have set snow records and along the way, the sledding has been as good as I can ever remember it for so early in the season.  Creeks are getting filled in, stumps covered, all is good in the sled hood!

Ridge hopping en route back to the truck after a great day.

Turns like these make all the sacrifices so well worth it!

 This one too!

Big news....., in little Tahoe City!

Marco popped the question to Anna a couple of days ago.  And....., she said yes!  Awesome.

And in other random news....., I saw this is a local ski mag the other day and thought it was a sweet shot of Marco skiing in the Town Downhill last spring, probably about .5 seconds away from blowing his knee out damn it.

Morning rip....

Sledding with the boys on the dawn patrol scene yesterday morn was on!

"Dang......., it sure is cool hanging out in the middle of nowhere and not seeing any tracks."

"If only a guy could ride to the top of that rocky bastard."

Awesome to be back in the hills with my bud Drewski again.

Nate has not only learned to sled, but he is fast approaching badass status!

 Pure gold.

 Jesse getting some.

Work Wanderings...

One never knows where my work will take me it seems.   Last week was a first!  I went to Birmingham, AL.  Luckily, my cousin's husband's parents live there and they treated me royally!

This is a shot of their amazing house overlooking the city.

And a theater that my hosts have been integral in helping restore.

A view of the city from their front lawn.  It was actually pretty darn cold while I was there getting well below freezing at night.

The back yard.  Already looking forward to going back in March for work when it is a little warmer and everything is starting to bloom.

Tis the season

It is only the middle of December and we have already broken records for settled depths up in the mountains for this time of year.  Pretty awesome!  And we have been riding, duh.....

Playing in the snow

This lil snow bear did the 20 mile round trip up to Granite Hot Springs like a boss last weekend for his mom's bday!

One of our favorite places to go in the winter.  Always magical up there.

Ohh man......, I wish we had a way to make moments like this happen more often.

Friday Night Lights

Hmmmm....Work til 5 on a Friday, put your boots on at your office, walk a block, ski knee deep powder, yea.

It was, has been, and continues to dump in Jackson.  Yahoo.

Untracked goodness, no crowds, sweet lil winter town below.

Night skiing in pow really is such a cool experience.

G'parents

Awesome having my parents in town to spend a quick weekend with us and the Dashman.

Soon after this picture my dad fell asleep and Dash had a very confused look on his face!

Mom getting her daily exercise in!

The usual path to the path......, just a little different than in July.

How many heartbeats can you fit in one picture?

It's baaaaaaaack.....!

Sledding season is on like donkey kong!  Still a little thin down low, but after this coming weekend's storm we should be in better shape.  Just nothing like it going out in the deep backcountry in the middle of winter and adventuring on a sled.  It is the cat's meow for yours truly.

Yep, that is a face shot.

Turn after turn after turn, much like this.

 And this...

Still grass poking through, but in the right meadows where rocks and stumps were not a concern, it was amazingly good.

The crew....

Tradition

We have a few traditions that we seem to do each and every year as a family and living here in Jackson.  One of if not my absolute favorite is heading up to Granite to get a X mas tree.  THe past 12 years we have been gone the first weekend in December down in Beaver Creek watching ski racing, so, this winter we were here and the snow was a little thin, but we had the place all to ourselves and found our best tree yet.

Chels and Dash on the way out.

All bundled up!  Just like last year, Dash loved snowmobiling.  This of course made me very happy.

 Hauling er out.

Hard to believe that in just a few winters time Dash will be riding with me on a bigger sled.
