The Recap - Europe Part 1

We're back and for the next week or so we will bombard you with pics of our great time. Hope you enjoy and stay tuned! At the bottom is a short little video of just the beginning of our trip...

After arriving in Zurich, we had to hop on 6 different trains to get up to Wengen (a town only accessible by train)...this shot is the train station in Interlaken, Switzerland...almost there!

Enjoying the first of many, Trevor and Paul celebrating the beginning of our adventures!

We made it! Awaiting Porc and Erin's arrival at the Wengen train station.

The calm of Wengen before the World Cup storm ensued.

Crammed in the tram and ready to really see what this resort is all about.
(We have snow on our skis already because we could walk right out our door and ski down through the town to the tram. Quite the life!)

Top of the Wengen tram.

The Eiger before the sun hit. Pretty awe-inspiring.

A look back at the town of Wengen from the ski hill.

We hopped on this train from Kleine Scheidegg (which is a town situated on the ski hill that you can either ski to or reach by train from Wengen or Grindelwald) that took us up the Eiger to "The Top of Europe".

They dug the railway tunnels up the mountain in the late 1800's, I think just to say they could!

Heading up to the Eiger on the train, looking back at Kleine Scheidegg and the Lauberhorn downhill which runs along the far ridge and drops down the other side.

Chelsea looking south out a porthole in the Eiger.

(Eiger in the background.)

Looking towards Italy.

They also had an "Ice Palace" up there which was awesome! You basically just "skated" around in your ski boots through these tunnels of solid ice scattered with ice sculptures. Needless to say, we came away with a couple bruises from this one! So fun.

Meltdown...

Went from -26 to a high yesterday of 52! This of course had me thinking more about river trips than skiing. Starting to be that time of year again to scheme on river fun and get permits in the mail. Was going through some shots from last summers many missions and found these.

Two Sicknesses

A tale of two very different types of sick for this weekend. Unfortunately, Chels was horribly sick all weekend long and outside of getting to read a ton, she was pretty much confined to the couch.

I went snowmobiling both days, Saturday up on Togwotee Pass (pictures from there) and today down in Granite Canyon. Both days were "sick". Conditions were prime for riding; deep, light snow, big groups to ride with, and sun today.

It's was legitimately -26 below zero here in Jackson this morning. The sled needed a few extra pulls to start up needless to say!

Tahoe rules

More Tahoe shots from last week. Chels managed to come down with a pretty bad sickness after the week in Tahoe. Bummed she will be on the couch for the better part of the weekend trying to get healthy again before leaving for Europe in about 10 days. I am heading out snowmobiling with some buds to Togwotee Pass. Have great weekends.

Happy New Year!

It's certainly been a while since the last post with nothing but a lot of fun since then. We are back in Jackson now after a great, almost week long jaunt out to Tahoe and beyond to see Chels' family and friends out there. Always awesome to see the crew and do a little skiing too. Will let the pictures explain the rest. Stormy and snowy here in Jackson, yahoo.
