After arriving in Zurich, we had to hop on 6 different trains to get up to Wengen (a town only accessible by train)...this shot is the train station in Interlaken, Switzerland...almost there!
Crammed in the tram and ready to really see what this resort is all about.
(We have snow on our skis already because we could walk right out our door and ski down through the town to the tram. Quite the life!)
Top of the Wengen tram.
The Eiger before the sun hit. Pretty awe-inspiring.
A look back at the town of Wengen from the ski hill.
We hopped on this train from Kleine Scheidegg (which is a town situated on the ski hill that you can either ski to or reach by train from Wengen or Grindelwald) that took us up the Eiger to "The Top of Europe".
They dug the railway tunnels up the mountain in the late 1800's, I think just to say they could!
Heading up to the Eiger on the train, looking back at Kleine Scheidegg and the Lauberhorn downhill which runs along the far ridge and drops down the other side.
Chelsea looking south out a porthole in the Eiger.
The abridged version of the Marco Sullivan Fan Club posing from "The top of Europe!"
(Eiger in the background.)
Looking towards Italy.
They also had an "Ice Palace" up there which was awesome! You basically just "skated" around in your ski boots through these tunnels of solid ice scattered with ice sculptures. Needless to say, we came away with a couple bruises from this one! So fun.
