Thoughts of Summer....

Well....., it never got above zero today and the low tonight in some places of western Wyoming is calling for windchills of up to -50F.  So, naturally, my mind is wandering to being on the river, 80 degrees, amongst good buds.  BC sent me this beauty a few days ago.  Classic.  Smith River, circa, hmmm, maybe this summer, I cant remember.

Thanksgiving Throwback

Every year for Turkey Day we go down the the Beach House in Santa Barbara and hang out with the ridiculously fun and raucous extended Robinson/Maclise family, a gathering of 40+ people. This event, which has been going on for ages and has turned into a family reunion of sorts, never fails to be a good time. I wanted to try to capture it for those family members who couldn't make it this year and for everyone to get a little glimpse into the fun....enjoy!

Solid Cycle of fun.

Jackson does it again, per usual.  Seems like everyday out in the mountains in the past 10 days has been so good!  The day after X mas was no exception!  Bluebird and two feet of fresh.

I love turns like this.

 And this too.

 Des, painting the sky white.

December means low angle sun and snow that stays good for weeks.

Santa Delivered.

We had the best X mas ever!  Opened presents in the morn, cooked a yummy bfast, then went skiing for a couple of hours at Snow King.  It was one of those rare winter blasts where town actually gets as much of more snow than the mountains do.

Mid run selfie.

 Yep, it was that good.

There is so much to love in this picture.  Chels, ripping with the lil one at 34 weeks and the town of Jackson in the background.

X mas came early.

Drew and I ducked out of work a bit early on X mas eve and found the goodness.

Thank You ol man Winter for serving up the goods!

Last Sunday was the day of the winter thus far.  Waist deep and epic.

Me, launching a line through the trees.

Scuba Steve living in the white room.  Yea, it was as good as it looks.

Pretty sure there is a ride under that cloud of white smoke somewhere.

Scuba getting airborn.  You can see how deep the tracks where next to him!

In Da House

In what is a semi-wish it was more often-annual party, last weekend we made ginger bread houses with buds.  It brings out the artistic flair.

Ted, with what was dubbed the Leaning Tower of Piza and Heather, will a rad lil house.

Kristen, Megan, Tina and Keely, showing off some badass houses.

Yea Keeley... Jackson is a better place now that you live here!

 Masterpieces.

The sexes separated, divided and conquered and tried to one up each other on the build outs.

All in a day's work...

I had to be over in Worland, WY yesterday for work in the afternoon.  Well, it just so happens that Togwotee Pass is right on the way and it just so happens that my bud Drew is always up for a good mission, no matter the hour.  So, we got up early and were riding before it got light, and it was the best conditions of the young winter thus far.

Unloading the sleds from the truck.

Drew, getting his 2015 Polaris Pro RmK airborn, cleaning out the exhaust!

Are you really looking at my iphone?

We charged for 3 hours, then I put in a solid 9 hours of driving.  I was worthless for conversation when I finally arrived home 14 hours later!

The World would be a much better place....

if more people got up to watch the sunrise while doing something awesome.  Every week I try to ski "dawn patrol" in the wee hours of the morn.  Each time I do I always seem to have a better day at work.

Shots from this week dawn patrolling.  Summit of Glory Bowl, Teton Pass.

Pretty standard to get to the top just as the first hints of the day are starting this close to the winter equinox.

Ben reaping the benefits of getting out of bed early.

Pow turns and back to the office before most are even waking up.

Riding in the Teeeters....

I finally got to ride sleds in the Tetons!  There is only one access point to get up on Teton Pass and previous to the sled deck I couldn't get my sled up there due to the trailer ban in the winter.  Well, that all changed last weekend.  Scuba Steve and I went out for a reconnaissance mission up Phillips Canyon.  It was awesome.

Getting a X mas tree described in a few words.

Find the correct tree that works for your 600sq foot apartment.

Cut down said tree.

Haul nice lil tree to waiting snowmobile.

 Strap tree to sled.

Load sled and tree in truck.

Head home.

Hanging with Ms. Awesome...

Last Friday was a treat.  Chels and I got to hang just the two of us all day long.  She is my favorite.

Still cooking that bun and looking awesome doing it.  32 weeks and counting.

I have a feeling getting days much less hours just the two of us in the future is going to be tough.

Back in the swing....

After being out of the valley for a month straight on the weekends, it feels so good to be back home and in the routine of having fun in the valley.  It hasn't snowed a ton since we got huge storms in November, but, the snow has maintained and been fun.  Friday we did out usual tree getting mission via sled up to Granite Hot Springs.  We found an awesome tree, soaked up sunshine, and reveled in the amazing place we are lucky enough to call home.

Putting a sled on its side and laying a trench is easily one of my favorite things.

Chels and the bump.  Luckily they all stayed warm inside a nice down puffy.

Keep skiing Marco.....

Selfishly.......we wish the Beav could happen every year for the rest of our lives!  It is such a fun gathering of our good buds, many of whom we only see once a year.  It is astounding how far people travel to hang out, support Marco, and ski early season groomers!  So Marco, four our sake, keep skiing as long as you can!

Me, skiing as fast as the speed of light...

 Yea Rena, love this shot!

Lizzy, and her European boyfriend "Schnudler" being festive.

Shannon and Zoe, leaving no guessing as to what their favorite colors are.

 You guys are awesome.

Back of a happy beaver truck.

Meri, Joni, Keelan, and lil Caleb.
