Hard to believe....

For anyone that lives in the area and/or has ever driven to Jackson via Alpine, WY you wont believe this shot.  Yep, that is the Palisades Reservoir.  Crazy.  I took this shot a couple of weekends ago.  A ton of water was let out of the reservoir this summer to water all the potato farms farther down the way via the Snake River in southeastern Idaho. Normally this section of the reservoir would be 50 feet deep here.  I hope it gets filled up again this spring.

Desert Climates Suit Me Just Right

While I have no interest calling the desert home, being a frequent visitor is just fine with me!  I love the topography, the harshness, the sun, and the beauty.
Matt,  coming into a narrow zone .

Aaron enjoying buffed singletrack with nothing but CanyonLands NP to keep him company in the distance.

The vast network of trails on Sovereign Trail is mind boggling...

Matt and Shannon's  buds camped with us and had a full compliment of toys to keep their kids entertained.  I am willing to bet 5 year old Cole will be riding with the big boys soon enough!

Dinosaur tracks fossilized in the sandstone.

The essence of moto'ing..  Just you, the bikes, and good buds having a blast.

Aaron leading Shannon up a techy zone.

 Camp Awesome!  Rolling in style.

Infinity Pool and a Yoga Move......

that both blow my mind!  Chels is getting down to the final days down in CR and looks to be hard at work enjoying herself.

First hint of desert awesomeness...

I couldn't have picked a better weekend to high tail it to southerly latitudes as the weather in JH turned to a rain/snow gross mix.  It was 80 and sunny down in Moab and I soaked it up with all the SLC crew that are such a blast to hang, moto, camp, and play fire side games with!

Just a couple of shots from this weekend as I gotta scoot to work.  Shannon, above, on a knife edge on the Sovereign trail.  Yea, a no fall zone!

What......, I am actually in a moto picture?  Me, coming  out of a fun zone on the Sovereign trail on the first day we were down there.  More Moab pictures later on in the week.

And for a way cooler, better, educated, and amazing photographic documentation of the weekend that was, go no further than to Anna's blog......., she has the goods, per usual.....

Calling All Single Ladies.....

In my wanderings this week for work, I have located the perfect town for single ladies.  It's out near the Nebraska border if you are interested.

And that my friends.....

Is why we continually go to the South Fork over, and over, and over again.....Cody, nice, big, stout 'bow....

Fish of the fall so far.  Def one of the bigger bows I have seen boated on the South Fork in a few years.  Well done Cods.... I attributed it all to the rower!

 Damn right.

Flank steak fajitas over the fire pan....Check.

We camped at "Malibu Beach."  Kinda a bummer, but probably last camping float of the summer.

Chels the Yogi....

I got a few more pictures from Chels today down in Costa Rica.  Looks like she is busy being a badass.  But, as Chels always reminds me, "Yoga isn't competitive..."  Yea right.

Today was a day off for Chels and she spent it preparing for her solo practice coming up next week.

I am pretty sure I cant do that.

Thats really cool.

Yep...

The South Fork yielded yet another awesome weekend.  Cody and I floated, fished, and camped.  We pretty much had the river to ourselves.  Saturday the fishing was damn good which normally directly correlates with bad weather.

Me and my fish of the weekend.  Nice brown, literally with the boat launch still in sight.  That almost never happens!

Man and his best friend braving the elements.

Colter has had hundreds of days on a drift boat, his experience shows.

Mmmmmmm...

 Applesauce is good.....

Applesauce in a crockpot sans sugar and all the bad stuff is even better....

It is nice....

to have the clouds of Jackson filled with amazing sunsets again and not the gnarly smoke.  Two nights ago it was burning....

Last of the up north riding.....

It was so freaking cold last weekend.  Lows got down to almost single digits.  It was mandatory to warm the moto gear by the fire in the morn to make it somewhat palatable to throw on.

Kinda a bummer knowing this was probably the  last moto of the season in Wyoming, and all the riding from here on out will have to be found in warmer latitudes down south.  Already pumped to explore more in the Big Holes next summer.

"Umm, yea, that is a really long ways down"

Lunch break.

This guy

has a damn cool job.  I saw this dude hanging off the cell tower up on Snow King on a hike after work today.

Man camp.....

was in full effect this weekend.  Matt and Aaron came up from SLC and got treated to "some of the best moto trails in America!"  They were both blown away by all the amazing riding in the Big Hole Mountains.

Matt, charging up a techy zone up Flemming Canyon.

Last weekend was floating below, this weekend was riding above...South Fork of the Snake.

Aaron clearing a climb with the Tetons in the background.

I love the South Fork and all it's amazing recreational opportunities about as much as anywhere in the world.

Matt getting some with the long ridge that we had just hammered in the background.

Temps barely got to 50 and fall was in full effect.

A little....

dispatch from Chels down in Costa Rica!!  Chels had a "day off" today in CR and it looked to be nothing short of completely badass.  I miss ya Chels, but am so pumped you are in your element and having fun, learning, and being rad.  Looks amazing!

It's extremely rare

that we ever post anything on the blog with any sort of political tilt one way or the other.  However, of all the rhetoric that came out of both of the candidates mouths tonight while I was watching, I nearly threw the remote at the TV when Romney said he wanted to cut the budget of PBS right in front of the moderator, the amazing, awesome, and unbeatable PBS anchor and tonight's host, Jim Lehear.  I was floored.  Shame on you Mit.  PBS and NPR are two institutions I happen to believe in deeply.  That pissed me off.  Of all the ways this country could trim the fat, cutting public broadcasting certainly shouldn't be one of them!  Ok, done ranting.....Ugh...

Scoring After Work Goodness

Fall is my favorite time to hike all the sweet trails behind our apartment and my office.  They all just opened back up after the fires and I scored a nice jaunt tonight after work.  The "Josie's to the King" loop just didn't feel the same without my normal partner Chels taggin along.  I missed you Chels!
