HC'ing

It is always one of my favorite weekends of the year each and every year.  Although this year a more than hectic weekend allowed for just a couple hour window today at the King, I enjoyed it nonetheless.

HillClimb weekend brings out the awesome.  Including this amazing sled hauler/camper.

Not a better seat in the house.

The gate set today was as straight as I have ever seen it.  Sleds were getting up an over with ease.

I have logged thousands upon thousands of miles with my bud STeve in the backcountry on sleds and motos, but had never taken a run together skiing until today!

Like I said, one of my favorite events.  Always.  So much to love.

No bueno

This poor lil dude has been pretty damn sick the last week.  About the only thing that has got him cheered up has been Saltines, Orange Gatorade (after 4 day of not eating/drinking anything), and new sunglasses that showed up in the mail!  Hoping he commits to wearing them!

5 months!

Amazing how good a pedal feels outside when you haven't done it in 5 months!  Last night was awesome.

Work wanderings

I had a  whirlwind work trip to Alabama last week that saw me stop off in Denver and Chicago coming and going too.  The highlight was getting to go to the Barber Motorsports museum in Birmingham, AL.  Quite the private collection of all things motorsports.

Apparently every bike is taken down to the last bolt, and brought back to life in its original form with all original parts and all one would have to do to make it spring to life once again is add gas.

I had long heard about this particular bike via moto buds but never actually seen one in real life.  Yes, all you road and mountain bikers....., Cannondale tried their hand at dirtbikes about 15 years ago.

To my eye....., almost all of the 1970's era Honda's are the coolest bikes out there.

At first glance this looks like a kids toy room or something huh!  Nope, they are all real.

A Harley and US Govt collaboration!

Spring slushin.....

Who doesn't love skiing in jeans, sunglasses, and slush!

Dash a few days ago on my lunch break loving it.

Despite a lot of effort attempting to get the lil dude to wear goggles all winter, whether it was a blizzard and or blinding sun, he still didnt want anything to do with them, maybe next winter Dashman.

 Sunglasses....., a little better.

Love!

Somewhere new

Last few shots of the extravaganza that was the weekend previous riding sleds.  Drew and I explored some new terrain down in the Wyoming Range on Sunday.  Just might have been the last blast of winter for a while.  It was 65 degrees in town today!

Always awesome to see new, big country.

Looking off to the east and the Wind River Range.

 Top of Cliff Creek Falls.

Looking north into the middle of nowhere.

Tahoe...

Dash and Chels got to head to Tahoe this past weekend.  Looked like a blast.

Hot damn.....

Yesterday was one of those days were everything comes together and it produces a truly memorable day.  Sun, new snow, great company, and exploring new terrain.

Fresh coat of white on the mountains.

We dont ride much off of Togwotee given the drive (we are spoiled in our thinking that driving one hour for this is too long!)

 Solitude and views.

Pretty sure we are the only humans to have traversed this spot in the last 5 months.

 And this one too.

The landscape up on Togwotee is so dramatic, beautiful, and awesome.

Unparalled.

It has been raining cats and dogs for a couple of days straight in the valley.  So, one must search high, far, and wide......, well, especially high!  We found winter time yesterday up on Togwotee at 11k feet.  It was awesome.  Psychologically felt even better looking at winter, rather than what is surely the start of a 3 month long "mud season."

And returned to one of our favorite secret spots for a fresh drink from the source, and a shelter from the wind to eat a sandwich!

Getting ready....!

Dash and Uncle Marco at Squaw Valley, getting ready for tomorrows World Cup race.  Tune in everyone, it is going to be awesome.

Snow Dude

Lucky for  us, our lil dude loves himself some snow.

Keep it comin....

Long range forecast looks like these moments from a couple days ago with small pockets of blue sky will be fleeting.   More big snows on the way.

Sure do love riding in the Palisades/Snake River Range.  Will be advocating for maintaining access to these great areas universally to all the sporting public when this issue comes up on Wednesday of this coming week.  Talk of turning this area into Wilderness.  This, I oppose for a host of reasons, not just because we couldnt ride sleds there anymore.

Two winters in....

I went out with my bud Jesse the other day and damn was it awesome!  It is his second winter sledding, and it just goes to show what dedication, and trying attitude, and improved sled technology makes capable.  He is charging!
