Running and Gunning

Lincoln County Courthouse, Kemmerer, Wyoming.

I was down in Kemmerer today for a couple of Disposition Hearings (sentencing). I took a few cases in the county south of Teton County (Jackson) to better learn the judicial system and it's players down there. The only drawback being when I have to appear in court it is a 6 hour round trip drive. The judge asked me only a couple of questions today. So, it all ends of being a lot of windshield time for very little actual work.

June also saw me spend a week in Laramie, WY for a conference, a couple of days in Evanston, WY for meetings, and then I just got back from a two day trip transporting a child from a treatment center in Butte, MT back to Jackson.

Goodbye June, hello July (and vacation starting on Friday!!!)

Two for One

We couldn't get enough of the sunshine this weekend so we decided to live it up...

first, with a bike ride out Antelope Flats to Kelly (some of the most amazing views of the Tetons from here) on our new road bikes.

...on to a picnic and kayak on Jackson Lake.

Living the life.

Time to beautify

We finally decided it was summer and time for our annual flower planting this weekend

Even Stevie was getting into the swing of things and helping out

Pretty!

Our end result (don't look at the ugly siding and flaking grey paint!)

Doesn't it look great? It sure makes us happier!

We also decided it was a special occasion and used our bountiful mint plant to help us make some awesome mojitos!

Yummmmm!
Summer, we love you!

The Mint

(acquired from my mom and Joe in Tahoe a month ago)

It started at half this size....

and look at it now! It is going wild!

Anyone have any good mint recipes?
I know at least mojitos are a must! : )

Thank You Landon!

Holy Shit.......................................!!!!!

Thank You Landon, thank you! I stayed home from work this morning for a couple of hours and watched what was surely the best game of the US National Team's history. Winning in the 91 st minute. Wow. I no longer have a voice from all the yelling.

On to the second round to face Ghana on Saturday. Can't wait.

Summer?

Kari and Chels hiking right out behind our apartment.

Yep, that town there, it's a really cool place to live in the summer!

As only balding guys know, a new hat that you love is priceless. Kari came into town with a new Red Bull hat that is awesome. Here, I am clearly stoked on the new hat, summer, cold beverages, and also the stache!

Water Play

Our friend Kari is in town (again! yep, she is our most frequent visitor for sure!) so on Saturday we decided to take out Trev's new raft for a float down the Snake River. We decided to float from the Jackson Lake dam down as Trev thought that would probably be the clearest water for fishing. All morning it was beautiful and sunny...that is until we actually touched the boat to the water. Go figure, huh?

We saw a ton of wildlife including three bald eagles all hanging out in the same spot...such cool creatures!

We got rained on sporadically, but the float ended up being fun and Kari even got to practice her rowing in the raging rapids (haha, you can see behind us that this section of the river actually is more similar to a lake!)

We met up with Ted and Jason for dinner at Signal Mtn. Lodge and then decided that a sunset cruise on Jason's new boat would cap the night off perfectly, so we did just that.

Kari enjoying the view.

And we finally pulled out as it got dark....gotta love making the most of the long summer daylight hours!

A tale of two looks

Ummmmmmmmmm, Chels is certainly not pleased with the new look! I loved having the beard, Chels actually says she likes the stache better than the beard which speaks volumes about her disdain for the beard!

Maybe I will bring it back next winter?

Things that make me happy!

Sunrise pictures taken by my casual insomniac wife at 5 am this morn.

Cracked Peppermill Turkey Sandwiches on my lunch break and......

my daily compliment of chips, fruit, iced tea, homemade pickle (Thanks Rena and Joe!!!) and celery to go along with my turkey sandwich and the company of Chels.

Right, all things that make me happy. Things that make me unhappy........................cleaning up one killed mouse that Stevie left for me on my lunch break only to spend 45 minutes chasing after a chipmunk that be brought in and let go alive in our small bedroom. It turns out this small bedroom is chalk full of hiding places for a chipmunk however!

Ride Your Bike to Work Day!

Summer has arrived!
Look at these amazing blooms that have just popped up right outside Trevor's office.

That is his tree...too bad it couldn't stay like this all summer long!

View out his window.

Today if you rode your bike to work, you got free coffee and a bagel from Pearl St. Bagels, isn't that awesome? So since I technically don't have to ride anywhere to get to work, I decided to accompany Trevor to work and the bagel shop...what a great way to start the morning!

Trevor being all GQ in his work attire.
Check out all the bikes...I think people might be a little excited about the sunshine's late arrival!

The Park

When we say "The Park", we are talking about Grand Teton National Park which we are lucky enough to have right in our backyard. Yesterday Trevor and Ted took off after work to go play golf, which is not my forte, so I decided to grab Jake the Snake and go for a ride in the park. Last year they finally got in an amazing bike path from the entrance out to Jenny Lake (about 9 miles) and it looks like they will hopefully be extending it soon. Fingers crossed!

Look at this view!

Riding by some lounging elk

Look how gorgeous it is here, I felt like I could have kept riding forever (until the sun dipped behind the Tetons and got chilly!)

Happy.

Splattering Paint...

Saturday our friend Sarah had her b-day extravaganza. She celebrated by getting a group of about 15 people together, a lot of beer, paintball guns, and lots of ammo. It was a blast. I hadn't been paintballing in probably 15 years and had almost forgotten how much fun it is to run around in the woods and shoot your buddies.

Most everyone wore cammo and were pretty aggressive participants.

Sarah's fiance Jim, trying to analyze why he got "lit up".

I low crawled behind Chad and surprised him with multiple semi auto shots to the ass, one of which managed to find a hole in his pants and leave a pretty good welt.

The guys that put on the event for Sarah were from Jackson and they are professional paintballers traveling all over the country playing. They brought all the gear and took us up to their field they have constructed over the years in the National Forest outside of Jackson. They are named "Team Supressor".

The girls were the most patient when playing, and pretty much kicked the guys asses.

Some of the remaining crew. Thanks Sarah and Jimbo, we had a blast!

BTW, congrats to USA soccer for the tie with England on Saturday. We had some friends that DVR'd it for us and we went and watched it last night. The US played poorly, but after some insane goal keeping via Tim Howard and an outright gift of a goal for the US, we managed to get a draw out of it. Can't wait for the next game on Friday. GO YANKS.

First Pitch

My brother is pretty cool. Last week, he and all the other Northern California Olympians got to have lunch with Governor Schwarzenegger (the Terminator!) and then throw the first pitch at the Giants game! Isn't that cool? Needless to say, I am a little jealous!

After Work Adventures

We got an awesome day of sunshine today (and if the forecast is right, it could be our only one for the week), so we took off right after work and headed up to Jackson Lake in the Park. We put our kayaks in at Signal Mountain Lodge and had a beauty of an evening paddle.

Trev trailing his lure on the paddle over to this island we decided we would beeline for.

We made it (after a long paddle)!

The sky and clouds were amazing

Celebrating this little island we found in the middle of paradise

Trev, fishing with some awesome scenery

Me, hanging out, mostly being camera girl

He caught a couple beauties (and threw them right back)

We got back right as the sun was dipping behind the mountains...what a great night!
