More High Pressure
Sunny and cold. High pressure weather systems were great for hikes this weekend but not the best for snow. Oh well.
Short week then off to Santa Barbara, CA for the Robinson Thanksgiving.

Is it almost December?
If you can't ski in November, then you might as well go fishing. Shots from Thursday, (yea, November 20th!!! ) fishing on the South Fork of the Snake River with Cody Barber.

Wow
Caught this beauty driving back from skiing this weekend around Moran Junction and in Grand Teton National Park. Amazing that you can live somewhere 365 days a year and still remain in utter awe of it's beauty on a daily basis.

Finally
We finally got some skiing in this weekend! Chels, Ted, and I went up to Togwotee Pass (1 hour from Jackson) and made some fun turns, albiet very gingerly. There was anywhere from a foot to a three foot base and some nice turns to be had. More than anything it just felt right going through the motions of getting into ski gear once again and skinning up for some turns.
On the way home we were lucky enough to catch one of the best sunsets in recent memory here in the valley. The whole sky was lit up. Stay tunned for those shots later on in the week.

Oh Shit
Doing some digging once again for random shots and found these and had to laugh. I was going from Bozeman to Jackson via Yellowstone a couple of summers ago after a river trip and came across a major traffic jam. Ordinarily, this can be anything from a squirrel to a Grizzly bear up in Yellowstone. Well, better than any animal sighting, here is a Ford Explorer in the Madison River. The story went that the tourist forgot to put the rental in gear and jumped out of the car in a hurry to get an animal shot. Meanwhile, the Explorer went for a swim.

Still Hoping
Starting to get very antsy with the ski legs talking to us! Normally turns can be had by middle of November, but unless you want to risk hitting stumps and rocks, there isn't much skiing to be had here in Jackson. Winter Storm Warning is on for tonight though.
Some shots from our trip to Las Lenas, Argentina a couple of summers ago. Come back snow, we welcome your kind back to our neighborhoods with open arms.
Chels could moonlight as a semi professional photographer in her spare time I think.
Happy B day shout out to Meg Ganong. About time you joined the legions of the 29th year club!

Weekend of Grey
Stevie just about sums up our weekend, lots of laziness and laughter.
(I will try to figure out how to flip this video, but for now, you get Stevie dancing sideways!)

Snow Check
Went out to the ski hill today after work for a little hike and to assess how much this past storm had deposited on the higher elevations. There was about a foot up high with a mixture of man made and natural. Was interesting to see the snow maker workers using 4 wheelers to get around at the bottom of the hike and then by the top they were all on snowmobiles. Good to be in the snow once again. Turns are just around the corner.
Some shots I found in the vault from a classic ski day with the crew last April. The couliour shots are from "Central" off of Cody Peak and "Horseshoe" near Granite Canyon. Double click the Central shot(first one) to get a better perspective.
Have great weekends, think snow!!

In Limbo
Early November is always a tough time for me. The temps and weather are usually too cold to bike, fish, or do much of anything usually suited for summer. Conversely, unless we get a huge storm early, the skiing really doesn't get good until after Thanksgiving. So, running and a little bit of hiking before the trails get too messy usually dominates right now.
Some shots I took yesterday while out on a run above the small town of Kelly, WY (15 minutes from Jackson).

11th Hour
We got talked into going to a big Halloween bash at the last minute. Costumes were interesting. Obviously overjoyed with Obama's win yesterday. We went to a friends house, made pizza, glued ourselves to the t.v. and then had a solid bottle of Argentinian wine brought back from a friend who was there last week to celebrate.

Barack the Vote
We pulled this shot off the Teton Pass webcam from this morning. Out picketing at 9,000ft in a raging blizzard.
Happy Election Day from Wyoming! Both Chels and I voted early this morning. Despite all the news on NPR claiming long lines at the polls, we walked right in and cast our votes in strong favor for Obama. We also have a hotly contested House race this year with Gary Trauner, a Democrat from Jackson with a very real chance of claiming Wyoming's sole spot in the House of Representatives. This of course is no small endevour in a state that bleeds Republican Red.
