Work Wanderings

Turned and burned on a work trip to Alabama this past week.  I never grow tired of flying into Jackson.  Best airport experience in the lower 48 bar none....

So, so close to being able to see our place from out the window.  Looking good Hoback Canyon.

Gonna miss waking up to this view every couple of months in Birmingham.

Memorable

A couple weeks back from one of the more memorable days of the winter.  Not just because there was a foot of fresh, it was cold, and it was also bluebird.  But....., the crew too.  Chel's bud Kristen who lives in town but is originally from Maine had a bunch of her family in town who all ride sled back home in Maine and they asked me to take them out for the day.  I took the day off of work and toured them around and hot damn......it was so good.

I kid you not.....the shot above is of Kristen.  First day on a sled.  No joke.  She is one hell of an athlete.

Kristen getting first tracks over Wind River Lake.

 Sparkles.

The smiles were ear to ear with this crew.

Living in paradise rules.

In the hood

It is awesome living in a place that you can snowmobile down to the grocery store!

Deep...

I mentioned it has been deep right?  Can you spot the handlebars?

 I spy a ski.

I sure do love it when you have to wipe the snow off of your goggles.

Second half producing

Wow.....this winter in the second half has produced some amazing riding.

Birds eye view of Drew down below.

The type of riding we like to do!  In the timber in the tech.

Hoback Lake?

Hmmmmmm, what a 24 hour rain period, melting snow, and a low point produced today!

And....that is a wrap

The amount of stars that have to align just right these days for moments like this to happen is really uncountable.  But....., at the end of our trip Matt Happe volunteered to watch Dash for the day, it snowed a foot of fresh, and...., it was bluebird!  Chels and I scored.  It was the ski day of the trip.

One almost forgets how big of a ripper your wife is when you dont get to ski for real anymore together!

 Yea girl.

 All smiles.

 Dash and Zoe hanging tough.

Road tripin'

While HWY 50 might bill itself as the "Loneliest Road in America", having now done the stretch from Mammoth to Wendover, NV, we agreed that Mammoth to Wendover is lonelier than its famous brother.

We passed less than 10 cars in one 6 hour stretch and there was a sign that read "Next gas 240 miles!"

Stretching the legs and seeing the sights along the way.

Mammoth to Benton Hot Springs

We opted to mix things up a bit on our way from Mammoth back to SLC and went through Benton Hot Springs.  It is in the boonies, but..., if you ever find yourself in the area, we highly recommend hanging there.

The gas station in town also suffices as the one and only cafe.

Not a ton around except amazing vistas everywhere you look!

Last bit of Tahoe...

Dash got a 3 year old birthday in Tahoe and had a blast!
Playing with Baba Nans and his new race cars.

 The Tahoe Rat Pack

Good night stories with Pops

Anya Leunig took the award for Dash's "favorite girl"

More stories with Aunt Anna and Uncle Marco

Can't visit Squaw without multiple cinamon roll stops!

When Dash says he doesn't want to ski, he means it...favorite move of the winter, skis, boots AND socks off.

He'd much rather be playing with trucks!

Scored!

THe first half of the trip yielded some pretty marginal snow conditions.  THen, the back half of the trip was pure white gold!  Maybe my best turn of the trip!

Mammoth looking nice on a sunny pow day.

And Mammoth doing its windy thing!

There were still plenty of rocks to hit, but fun to ski some soft steeps.
