Race Day and Rodel-bahn aka....the bomdiggity

Just seeing loading this round of pics makes me nostalgic!  I already wanna go back to Wengen.  What a place!
Saturday was the downhill day of which we skied and trained to the mid way station to watch the race.  Sunday was a day entirely devoted to extreme Swiss sledding.  We loaded the tram with sleds at 9:30 am and returned them to the rental shop at 6:30 pm.  Outstanding.

Reason number 4,356 that Europe rules....., there is nobody around to tell you no....or watch out.  Case in point, Uncle Tim was descending the sled trail racing the fading light and came ripping into a little gathering area outside of a bar and had to put on the brakes to not get hit by a landing helicopter.  There was nobody out there directing traffic!

Classic Wengen race day looking from the Humpshah jump down below to the starting to gather crowd on the hillside.

Outside of watching Marco get a top 20 result in Wengen, Rodeling was by far and away the highlight.  Timmy and Adam, hard charging around a corner on the way down to Grindelwald, part I.

Jason, practicing the art of flight, Swiss style.  We got a lot of looks the entire day for the speed we were ripping and the hoots and hollers we had!

Beer, chocolate, meat, cheese, and wine break.  All, the finer things in life!

Chels is only slightly competitive in  life, and this was a view I had a lot during  the day.  She is a force to be reckoned with!

 Katie and Lizzy, rippin.

Marco man, last seen in Beaver Creek, made multiple appearances in Europe.  He was quite popular with the Swiss locals!

Pure awesome.  Marco Man and his 6 months pregnant chaperone, Meri, hanging at our homemade bar soaking up the scene that is race day in Wengen.

The Marco Rocks fan club was extremely popular with the Swiss ladies.

Timbo, on the first of what ended up being three laps down from Kliene Sheidigg to Wengen.

Quite simple the best place on the big ol planet to take in a ski race.  Nothing else compares.
