Now THIS is summer

Our first trip to Green River Lakes was amazing. It took us a little over 2 hours to get there on Friday night and ended up setting up the pop-up in the dark. The rest of the weekend was filled with kayaking, swimming, fishing, reading and good times!

This was a raging fire we passed on our way there, outside of Cora in the foothills of the Wind River Range.

This pic is from our drive in on Friday evening, but it looked to be almost controlled when we passed it again tonight.

Getting ready to kayak across on Saturday morning and see what we can find.

A total surprise! We found a perfect 1/4 mile sandy beach on the southern end of the first Green River Lake. We are pretty sure it is the coolest mountain beach in all of Wyoming.

So we decided to stay there most of the afternoon, relaxing.

The view from the beach, almost looks like Half Dome!

Can't get much better than this.

We dubbed the color of the water glacial-melt green.

Trevor fishing in paradise.

Just practicing high kicks under Squaretop Mountain. Unlike Trevor I can't sit around and fish ALL day.

Kayaking back across the lake fighting a headwind the whole way (much worse than this pic makes it look!) took us over an hour.

Finally made it. Tired muscles.

Our 1982 big rig RV...fits us just perfectly.

Fun with the headlamp

T + C...and you thought s'mores where the only fun you could have around the campfire.

A serene Sunday morning. The overcast definitely gave a feeling of a little fall chill in the air.

Once we crossed the first Green River Lake we had to rope up our kayaks and walk them about a mile upstream to the second lake. The current was a little too swift to make it anywhere paddling.

And here we are...Green River Lake #2

On our way back down the river we did a little fishing and this is what we found...the Green River rainbows were hungry!

We found some nice lake trout hanging out too.

Look at the color of this river! so pretty.

Yikes! I do not like holding these slimy squirming things, but since I caught it, Trevor made me hold it long enough to get this pic!
