Driving can be seeing

With Lake Powell in our rear view mirror, we headed further south to visit my sister for a night in Tuba City, AZ.  Luckily, the drive between Powell and Tuba City was.....well, see for yourself.
Looking down to the huge town of Hite, UT, where the Colorado River dumps into Lake Powell.

The whole 5 hour drive was non stop kick ass.

Then....the highway turns to a 12% steep ass grade, then to gravel, before dropping down into Mexican Hat, UT.  This part of the road is called Moqui Dugway.

Monument Valley, Navajo Nation, AZ.  We did the 17 mile loop on the dirt road around the monuments.  I ate dirt on the moto...

You could drive all around the buttes, get out, snap pictures like a rabid tourist, and hike around.

I was the only moto among many rental car sedans that were bottoming out.

 Chels is really cool.

Makes you wanna be on a horse and go riding for mile and miles.

On the moto charging to the next vista.

Monument Valley was about an hour from where my sister was living, in Tuba City.

We certainly wouldn't choose to live in the desert, but every spring, we are always amazed at how much we love the desert southwest.  Get there asap, it's like nothing else.
