Powell Perfection

Hard as it was to leave the moto scene, we had an agenda.  Lake Powell!  Powell has to be one of the more amazing man made lakes anywhere on the planet.  It is an oasis surrounded by beautiful desert.  We stayed on the very north end of the lake at Bullfrog Marina.

First day out searching for slot canyons.

Chels, check....slot canyon.

Chels with Bullfrog Marina in the background.  Houseboats were created with Lake Powell in mind!  We vowed to come back with a big group and rent a massive houseboat for a week of fun.

Pretty much had the whole place to ourselves.  I guess it gets pretty crowded in the middle of summer, but, as you can see, we didn't see a lot of activity except radness all around us.

Any day that your biggest concern is what book to shade up to for chapter upon chapter is a damn fine day!

The next day we got up early and motivated for a big paddle to Moqui Arm.  It turned into an epic 7 hour mission.

Our own little private cove for a lunch break en route to the Moqui Arm.  Amazing huh.

Starting to head into the actual arm.  This arm was big enough to take a huge houseboat up or water ski too.  Powell is amazing from a kayak, but too big to really see much of any of its splendor from.  The way to do it up right would be to have a command houseboat that could hold over 10 people, then tow behind a ski boat that you could head up smaller arms with, then bring another set of kayaks to go into the actual slot canyons.  Hmmm.....time and money.

Back end of the arm.

The very back end had this reflection off the water on to the ceiling of the overhang that was pretty "intense.."  (ha ha Goody).
