Once, not nearly enough

I guess once a year going on a backpack is enough......, but not really! Seems like walking long distances with a really heavy pack was all I did in the summer for about a decade, so, maybe that is why I haven't had the urge to do it as much in the past few summers. But....., Chels and always manage to sneak one backpack in a summer. We took advantage of the long Labor Day weekend and did a Teton classic. Up Cascade Canyon, up the S. Fork of Cascade, into Alaska Basin, and then out Buck Divide and Death Canyon. It kicked ass!

Chels climbing up Cascade Canyon on the first day.

Chels with the Grand Teton in the background.

Rounding a corner with the N. Fork of Cascade Canyon in the background.

Our first night camping we had a family of deer sharing the site with us.

Alpenglow sunset to finish the day off.

En route to Buck Divide.

There was more snow in September than I had ever seen up there despite years of leading trips in the same area, even though I was normally taking those trips up there in July and August.

Chels, with the bulk of the Teton Range in the background climbing up from our first nights camp.

Almost topping out at Avalanche Divide.....

And there.

Yea, not a bad place to chill and grab some lunch.
